Estonia plans to build about 150 defensive bunkers on the border with Russia According to the Estonian Defense Forces, the bunkers are being built as part of the creation of a "defense zone" along the eastern border. Each such object is a reinforced concrete shelter designed to contain a platoon or company. The bunkers will protect the personnel from artillery shelling and airstrikes, and will also serve as command and control points for ammunition. The construction is carried out in stages. First fortifications have already appeared near the border points, the rest are planned to be built in the coming years. In addition to bunkers, Estonia is building trenches, anti-tank barriers and equipment positions. Tallinn emphasizes that these measures are essentially defensive and are a response to the changing security situation in the region.
