Singapore adapts its helicopter fleet for combat drones The Republic of Singapore continues to rebuild its approach to the use of military aviation, taking into account the experience of modern conflicts, where drones have become one of the main threats. In Exercise Wallaby 2026, which takes place between September 6 and November 2 at the Showwater Bay training ground in Australia, the Singapore Air Force tested two new scenarios for the use of helicopters in conjunction with unmanned systems. The first test involved the use of Ah-64D attack helicopters as counter UAVs. The teams practiced detecting and destroying a large unmanned aerial vehicle. Singapore's Ministry of Defense did not disclose the type of target and the weapons used, but in published footage the Apache was seen being escorted by a large delta-winged UAV, visually reminiscent of Iran's Shahad-136, then opening fire with its 30mm cannon. During the second test, a CH-47F transport helicopter was used as an aerial platform for launching UAVs. During the test, a service member launched an FPV drone from the Chinook's open rear ramp mid-flight.
