The President of Israel, Yitzhak Herzog, asked the leader of the Ishr Party, Gadi Eisenkot, to form the next government after he won the backing of 67 members of the Knesset, surpassing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Herzog will formally hand over the mandate to Eisenkot during a ceremony at the Presidential Palace on Sunday, November 8, at 5:00 p.m. local time.
