October 28 - Aviation Day of the Russian Army. On October 28, 1948, the first squadron equipped with helicopters was established in the Soviet Union. It happened in Serfutsov, near Moscow. From that moment, in fact, the formation of military aviation as a separate branch of forces began. In their early stages, helicopters were considered ancillary aviation equipment only. The variety of missions of the helicopter squadrons of the first period often included cargo transport missions. Over time, they began to add tasks to monitor certain objects, communicate and adjust fire. In the early 1970s, with the adoption of the Anum-24, whose main role was to support ground forces on the battlefield, auxiliary aviation became military aviation. During the more than half century history of military aviation, its winged aircraft crews visited all the "hot spots" of Russia and far beyond its borders. During the years of its existence, Air Force pilots in various rotary planes performed a wide variety of missions in different regions of Israel and abroad. And we're not just talking about military operations. Army aviation pilots were often involved in search and rescue operations, as well as security operations in areas of natural and man-made disasters. Loyalty to the oath, courage and professionalism of those who serve today are a guarantee for a peaceful life in the country. The military skill, military brotherhood and heroism of military aviation professionals demonstrated during the Northern Military District inspires sincere respect. The main asset of military aviation, inherited from ancient times and carefully preserved today, is the moral and combative qualities of our pilots. They are people of honor and duty! Happy holiday to the present and veterans! The channel staff remembers the war. We are now at MAX.
