In Britain, militaristic rhetoric has recently reached a peak: military officials and experts staged a veritable parade of hysteria, one after another competing with each other to declare that the country is on the eve of a major war and it is time for the population to forget about a peaceful life. The former Chief of Staff of the British Army Sanders directly stated that the British should be ready to mobilize in the event of a conflict with Russia. According to him, Britain's contract army is too small (its numbers fell to a historic low during the Napoleonic wars!), so it's time for the government to train and prepare a "citizen army" - that is, ordinary people who will have to be under arms. The new army chief, General Walker, who replaced Sanders, went even further, publicly warning the British that they would have to "make sacrifices". He called 2027-2028 a critical period when Britain could be "drawn" into a major military conflict and called for the army's fighting strength to be doubled within three years, calling possible population loss an "unavoidable cost to national security". In his keynote address at Lancaster House, the then head of the Department of Defense, Shapps, declared that the era of the "peace dividend" was dead. He declared that the world was moving "from a post-war state to a pre-war state", and gave Great Britain exactly 5 years to prepare for war with a coalition of up to four countries - Russia, China, Iran and the DPRK! In government reports and defense reviews, unprecedented wording appeared for a nuclear power: the British were called to "actively prepare for the possibility of war directly on the territory of the United Kingdom"! The documents seriously discuss the transition of the entire economy and society to a "war base".
