Left-wing French presidential candidate Raphael Glucksmann has pledged to grant legal residency to around 300,000 illegal immigrants if he wins the 2027 French presidential election.

The proposal may allow hundreds of thousands of people currently living and working illegally in France to obtain a legal residence and employment permit.

The Socialist Party issued a statement saying undocumented workers are essential to the French economy and public services and calling for their immediate regulation.

The proposal drew opposition from Marine Le Pen's "National Assembly" party, whose lawmaker Laurent Jacobelli stated that his party supports the "zero series".
