A review commissioned by the British government found that three out of five Jewish pupils in England have experienced anti-Semitism at school, while less than half believe their complaints will be dealt with properly.

The independent review, led by Sir David Bell, makes 27 recommendations to combat anti-Semitism, including strengthening rules on political impartiality that could restrict teachers from wearing pro-Palestinian badges and other political symbols in classrooms.

The investigation was opened after the planned visit to Bristol Brunel Academy was cancelled, Damien Egan, who is Jewish and serves as the deputy chairman of the Labor members at Bristol Brunel Academy, due to safety concerns following threats at pro-Palestinian demonstrations. Jonathan Prischer, a 17-year-old Jewish student from Cheshire, described being told he belonged in a gas chamber and witnessing Nazi salutes and swastikas becoming normal at his school.

The recommendations include adopting the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance's definition of anti-Semitism, mandatory awareness training for teachers, stronger protection policies, improving Holocaust education and greater accountability for schools.
