A new survey by the CSA Institute in France found that 55% of the French believe that mass immigration is to blame for the violent riots sweeping the country.

The findings come after US President Donald Trump blamed immigration for riots, in which shops were looted, cars set on fire, monuments vandalized and violent clashes with police across France.

"France is burning! The immigration of people from a completely different world, people with hatred in their hearts, shattered the once great country. Close your borders and take control, before it's too late! Trump wrote on Truth Social.

French President Emmanuel Macron condemned the remarks as "stupid comments", and insisted that the claims that France was overrun by immigrants and Islamists were "absolutely false".
