The Herbert Park Hotel, a four-star establishment in the Ellsbridge district of Dublin, canceled 70 rooms reserved for delegates attending an international conference to combat anti-Semitism after they learned the purpose of their visit.
Maurice Cohen, chairman of the Jewish Representative Council of Ireland, revealed the incident during a reception at Ireland's Foreign Office.
According to Cohen, the hotel initially accepted the invitation, but the management's attitude changed after he explained that the guests would be attending a conference against anti-Semitism.
The CEO of the hotel asked if the meeting had anything to do with the IDF, even though the event was entirely civil and diplomatic.
After consulting with the hotel owners, the management informed the organizers that the delegates could no longer stay there. The gathering was the 15th meeting of the Special Envoys and Coordinators to Combat Anti-Semitism (SECCA), supported by the World Jewish Congress and the European Commission, bringing together representatives from across the 27 EU member states.
