The United Arab Emirates is moving forward with plans to establish a huge, 15-story permanent embassy in the Israeli coastal city of Herzliya, six years after normalizing diplomatic relations with Israel under the US-brokered Abraham Accords.
The building will cover up to 15,000 square meters over 15 floors, combining diplomatic offices with private residences for the Emirati ambassador and embassy staff.
The United Arab Emirates became the first Gulf state to open an embassy in Israel in July 2021, following the historic Abraham Accords signed in September 2020.
The latest approval marks another step towards a permanent diplomatic presence of the Emirates in Israel.
