France is mobilizing elite police and gendarmerie units, Centaur armored vehicles, helicopters, water cannons and military personnel for the nationwide riots planned for Saturday, October 24.

After the October 17 riots and looting, authorities are deploying anti-terror sentinel troops at guard stations, airports and religious sites so police and gendarmerie can focus on the streets.

The soldiers will not disperse demonstrators themselves.

Macron said "illegitimate" demonstrations would be banned and blamed ultra-left groups and vandals for rioting and looting.
