Rioters set fire to cars and administrative buildings, including the town hall of Limoges.

Special services later arrested the arsonist: 40-year-old left-wing ultra-Antifa activist Hudi Siara, listed as a national security threat due to his ties to extreme extremist movements.

Mass protests also hit the Italian cities of Milan, Turin, Bologna and Rome.

The worst was in Milan, with clashes in Piazza del Duomo, barricades and looting of luxury stores. No curfew has been imposed in Italy, but Maloney's government is sending 500 soldiers to Milan and tightening the rules for arresting aggressive teenagers.
