Texas has approved a new high school social studies curriculum that will teach students that Israel was founded in 1948 in the ancestral homeland of the Jewish people, emphasizing the influence of Christianity on American history, the teachings of Jesus Messiah, the influence of the Bible on American society and law, the military expansion of early Islam, the Islamization of Pakistan and the dangers of communism. The broader overhaul will affect Texas public schools, which serve about 5.5 million students.
