Charts circulating on X on October 11 appear to show a sharp drop in mentions of "free Palestine" and "genocide" following Ukrainian drone strikes on data centers operated by Russian tech giant Yandex. Ukraine hit three Yandex facilities between October 8 and 11, targeting sites in Ssovo, Russia's Ryazan region, Kaluga and Vladimir, disrupting infrastructure and forcing shutdowns. The strikes caused widespread service disruptions affecting Russian websites, cloud services, payment systems and travel applications. Screenshots shared online compared mentions of X keywords between October 5 and 11, showing marked declines in "free Palestine" and "genocide" towards the end of the period, while mentions of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky increased. The timing has sparked speculation that social media bot networks promoting pro-Palestinian narratives may have been disrupted. On October 12, Zelensky himself said that social media had become less hostile following the strikes, with fewer bots, provocations and divisive messages.
