Hassan also confronted the Israeli artist Yaron Bob, whose work was featured in the exhibition, telling him "Israel does not exist" after he identified himself as Israeli.

At least four members of the exhibition staff witnessed the event.

Hassan, 34, was born in a Palestinian refugee camp in Syria and represents the far-left party La France Insoumis (LFI) in the European Parliament. Israel previously denied its entry due to its support for boycott campaigns, after which it participated in a flotilla to the Gaza Strip that was intercepted by Israel.
