Britain's Green Party has officially declared itself an anti-Israel party after members voted 1,022-813 at its annual conference in Brighton to adopt a motion stating that Zionism should be treated like any other form of racism.
The resolution defines Zionism as an "ethno-national political project" and supports the establishment of a single Palestinian state to replace Israel.
The new policy also reaffirms support for the Palestinian right of return, the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement and a full British arms embargo against Israel.
According to the reports, supporters of the proposal chanted: "Say it loud, say it clearly, scores are not wanted here."
The Israeli Foreign Ministry strongly condemned the decision, accusing the Greens of adopting "not only Hamas's green, but also its ideology" and said that the party has become "a body that legitimizes terrorism."
