The co-pilot is a radical Islamist who attempted to hijack the plane and crash it into Israel as a jihadist terror act.

However, major Western media outlets, such as the BBC and CNN among others, framed what happened using terms like "brawl" or "spitting" between the two pilots, undermining the severity and nature of the event. Concerns about Islamist radicalization are minimized by governments in Western countries because they fiercely want to protect mass immigration from North Africa and the Middle East, as well as avoid admitting the dangers that Islamism poses to our societies.

On the other hand, Israel, India, and the United Arab Emirates openly acknowledge the threat posed by Islamic extremism and have made the fight against radicalization and terrorism central to their security policies.

The political and media establishment in the West has long preferred mass immigration policies and Islamist sensitivities over the security of citizens.
