The attempted hijacking of Tel Aviv-bound flight FZ1073 came after decades in which Muslim Brotherhood members preached violence against Jews and legitimized terrorist attacks.

For example, Germany's domestic intelligence service identifies Yusuf al-Qaradawi as one of the most influential ideologues of the Muslim Brotherhood. Qaradawi, whose sermons were broadcast worldwide from Qatar, called Jews "enemies of Allah," praised Hitler's persecution of Jews as "divine punishment," and prayed to kill Jews.

Britain's official review of the Muslim Brotherhood also found that individuals closely linked to the movement in Britain supported Hamas suicide bombings and other attacks, while Brotherhood-affiliated organizations expressed support for Hamas terrorist attacks. In France, preacher Hassan Iquioussen, linked to the Muslim Brotherhood, spent years delivering antisemitic sermons and inciting discrimination, hatred, and violence against Jews and non-Muslims until French authorities ordered his deportation.

Tariq al-Suwaidan, a Kuwaiti preacher who publicly acknowledged his affiliation with the Muslim Brotherhood, declared in Chicago that Palestine would be liberated only through "jihad" and "blood sacrifice," and said Jews would "meet their end at our hands." He later spoke at events in Europe, including Copenhagen, and was scheduled to appear in Belgium and Italy.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said initial information indicates that the Omani co-pilot who attacked the captain of FZ1073 and tried to destroy the plane underwent "radical Islamic indoctrination." Islamist movements, such as the Muslim Brotherhood, and preachers who have spent decades legitimizing violence against Jews, Christians, and Westerners must be banned and designated as terrorist organizations and individuals in Europe.
