Four NHS doctors identified in investigation over inflammatory social media posts regarding Jews, Israel, October 7 and terror attacks

Dr Muhammad Saad Rashad, a consultant ophthalmologist at Ashford and St Peter's Hospitals in Surrey, reposted images of Hamas terrorists using motorized paragliders on October 7, 2023, alongside a post captioned "Creativity" with three hearts.

He also shared "From the river to the sea Palestine will be free Al-Aqsa flood" and in April 2025, reposted a message stating: "Armed jihad against the occupation in Palestine is an obligation upon every capable Muslim in the Islamic world."

Dr Shabina Sultan, an osteoporosis clinical lead at Airedale Hospital in Keighley, commented on a discussion about Israelis taken hostage from the Nova festival in a report: "When people are occupied, resistance is justified!" She also described the October 7 attacks as "a symptom of a root disease created by the West."

Dr Sajid Islam, another NHS consultant, wrote that Zionists were a "bunch of r and p" and also shared the conspiracy theory that Israel was responsible for 9/11.

Dr Jawad Azhar, a consultant in gastroenterology and acute medicine at Good Hope Hospital in Birmingham, shared a video hours after two Jewish worshippers were killed in the 2025 Heaton Park synagogue terror attack and wrote the caption: "This is how freedom fighters are born."

The General Medical Council received 732 complaints relating to antisemitism between October 7, 2023, and January 31, 2026.
