π«π· The "Book of the Apocalypse", considered the most expensive in the world, with a cover by Salvador Dali, was stolen from a French museum
On the night of October 5, the "Book of the Apocalypse", worth several million euros, was stolen from the Center for Contemporary Art in Issuar.
Early reports said the entire exhibit was filmed. The prosecutors mentioned only the 150 kilogram bronze covering of Dali. It is not clear if the rest was stolen.
The mayor called the loss "impossible to estimate." An investigation was opened.
Publisher Joseph Porte commissioned the book from 1958β1961 from 14 artists and writers, including Jean Cocteau and DalΓ, who created the bronze binding with gold and seashells. It was valued at around β¬305,000 in the early 1960s. 2025 of the crown jewels worth β¬88 million and the theft of 4 Renoirs in September 2026 in Cagnes-sur-Mer, two of which were discarded during the escape.
