The internationally recognized government said it had "exhausted all opportunities for de-escalation" with the Iran-backed Houthis and put state forces on full alert.

Hours later, a military spokesman said government forces had launched more than 1,000 strikes on Houthi artillery and rocket positions, fortifications, access and reinforcement routes, supply lines, logistics and combat reinforcements.

Forces affiliated with the PLC broke through in southwest Taiz. The National Guard and the Southern Giants Brigades captured Dabab Airport, then cut the Dobab-Moha road and cut off Houthi supply lines.

Lt. Col. Majid Abdullah al-Nuzili said that forces affiliated with the PLC are now in control of the Bab al-Mandab Strait.
