The 29-year-old Iranian singer Parastu Ahmadi faces 74 lashes after an appeals court upheld her sentence for performing and publishing an online concert without wearing a hijab.

Ahmadi was also sentenced to a two-year ban on artistic activity and a two-year ban on leaving Iran.

Ahmadi performed without a hijab and sang a solo alongside male musicians before an empty hall.

Iranian authorities subsequently arrested Ahmadi and her crew members and prosecuted them for "harming public decency" by producing and publishing content authorities described as "vulgar and immoral".
