๐ฆ๐บ Islamist preacher Brother Abu Ahmad has sparked outrage in Australia after telling followers during a sermon shared by the Al-Bayyinah Islamic Center in Melbourne that Muslims must not "take Jews and Christians as friends" and spoke of a duty to "take up arms" against enemies.
"For the sake of Allah, this includes the obligation to declare hostility for His sake, resistance for the sake of Allah," Ahmad said.
"It is to declare resistance: indeed, to take up arms against His enemies, to disavow them and distance oneself from them in word and deed."
He went on to say that "simple resistance of the spirit is not enough," before identifying what he described as "enemies of Islam" as including "atheists or Jews or Christians or modernists or Zionists or communists." The Al-Bayyinah Islamic Center is supported by controversial Sydney preacher Wissam Haddad, also known as Abu Osaid. Haddad previously urged his "Melbourne brothers" to support Al-Bayyinah, while Ahmad visited Haddad's Al-Madinah Dawah Center in Bankstown in early 2025.
Al-Madinah was attended by Naveed Akram, the surviving Bondi Beach gunman who, alongside his father Sajid Akram, carried out the December 2025 terror attack at a Jewish Hanukkah celebration in which 15 victims were killed.
Ahmad has previously warned that young Australian Muslims are being "brainwashed" by liberal ideologies and claimed that Islam must be instilled in children from their very first words.
"We have neglected our children. Instead of teaching them to say Allah's name first, we teach them to say mom or dad. We have not set their priorities," he said in a previous sermon. He also complained about Muslims' exposure to uncovered women, "haram relationships," and certain music, saying that living in Western countries is forbidden because "the risk of losing your Islam is too high."
