93-year-old Marie Louise was found dead and covered in blood inside her home in Toulouse, France, with a 33-year-old naked Sudanese immigrant lying on top of her.
Marie Louise was disabled, bedridden for months and unable to move on her own.
The police were called after the neighbors felt worried, among other things after an unknown man was seen in her garden. The officers found her front door unusually locked from the inside and forced their way into the house through a glass door.
Upstairs, they discovered blood on a mattress and floor before finding Marie-Louise dead in the bathroom. The suspect was found lying naked on her body.
Investigators suspect that Marie-Louise was sexually assaulted and beaten, and that the suspect took her through several rooms of the house before taking her to the bathroom.
The man drank a large amount of alcohol and fell asleep. He was described as being in a different state and violently resisting arrest and injuring a police officer.
Neighbors described Marie-Louise as "the neighborhood's little grandma," and said they regularly helped her with groceries and other daily needs.
