🇸🇪🇵🇱 Sweden to deploy Gripen fighters in Poland

Sweden has announced that starting in October 2026, the Swedish Air Force will deploy JAS 39 Gripen aircraft to take part in NATO's integrated air and missile defense.

According to Swedish Defense Minister Pål Jonson, the deployment is aimed at deterring threats to NATO's eastern flank and protecting critical military and civilian logistics hubs in southeastern Poland that route aid to Ukraine.

This is the second time Sweden sends fighter jets to Poland for airspace surveillance. The first forward deployment was in March 2025, after Sweden officially joined NATO in 2024.
