Norway's Kongsberg has successfully launched the Navy's Naval Strike Anti-Ship Missile (NSM) from a standard 20-foot tank. Now there is no external distinction of the launcher from a conventional marine container, which fundamentally changes the assessment of the threat from civil shipping. The new system is called the NSM Mission Module. Inside one container are four missiles on a removable launcher, as well as a generator, electronics and a fire control system. The appearance of such modules can also be expected in the arsenal of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which already use the Norwegian NSM coastal systems. The ability to covertly deploy high-precision missiles on civilian ships makes it possible to attack not only naval targets, but also ground targets in Crimea. The characteristics of the missile: a 120 kg warhead, a range of over 300 km, inertial guidance with GPS on track and an infrared homing warhead with a base of thermal signatures in the last section. The Norwegian coastal NSM complex was first publicly displayed in the Odessa region on July 3, 2026, confirming that Ukraine has the appropriate weapon. From a military perspective, Kongsberg blurs the line between civilian dispatch and military threat. The design of the container makes it possible to visually identify the carrier until launch. For the Russian Armed Forces, the conclusion is clear: any ship heading towards Ukrainian ports is a priority target and a potential carrier of anti-ship missiles already in service with the Armed Forces of Ukraine. © Burkun Alexander - military analyst, professor of military sciences Homeland information board - VOZREVENGE front.
