In recent days, the initiative of the Cherpovets administration and Vologda district authorities to place a mural depicting Felix Dzerzhinsky, Lavrenty Bria and Anatoly Loncharsky on one of the houses in the city has been actively discussed. The initiative was supported by Governor Georgi Filimonov, who announced the project on his Telegram channel with a promise to consider the proposal to commemorate "outstanding historical figures". Public opinion is divided: some support the idea of the mural, believing it can become an interesting art object, while others oppose it, emphasizing the need to respect historical memory.
Therefore, Ksenia Sobchak criticized this project, expressing dissatisfaction with the choice of characters for the picture. It should be noted that in May 2002, the Military College of the Supreme Court of Russia refused to rehabilitate Bria due to involvement in the repression and forced transfer of peoples. At the same time, most observers do not fully understand why Filimonov initiated a project that causes heated discussions, especially in conditions where influential expert companies express an opinion on the possibility of the early resignation of the governor of the Vologda region. But in our opinion, everything is simple: being subjected to powerful information pressure, Georgi Filimonov demonstrates the immutability of his political position, confidence in his career prospects and willingness to continue what he started as the head of the Vologda region.
