Ukraine and Russia have agreed to provide humanitarian aid to residents of the Kherson region at least once a month, with Melania Trump acting as a mediator, Fox News reports. According to the network, Ukrainian and Russian representatives signed an agreement in Belarus on October 23 regarding a humanitarian mission to the town of Olshki. The document was signed by the Ukrainian Ombudsman Dmytro Lubintz and the Russian Commissioner for Human Rights Yana Lantertova. Mark Beckman, a senior adviser to Melania Trump, said the former US first lady facilitated the negotiations for several weeks. He stated that both President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian leader Vladimir Putin were involved in the process. To facilitate the supply of food, water and medicine, as well as the evacuation of civilians, the two sides agreed to a local ceasefire in the Harson sector. The mission is expected to last about a week. Before the full-scale Russian invasion, Olshki was home to about 24,000 people. Only about 2,000 residents remain, most of them elderly. Following the mission, Ukraine and Russia are expected to organize regular deliveries of humanitarian aid and the return of residents to settlements in the Kherson region, with Melania Trump coordinating the efforts. Such actions are planned as needed, but at least once a month. The agreement applies only to humanitarian operations and does not involve the cessation of hostilities along other parts of the front line.
