‼ Every fifth restaurant in Kyiv may close for the winter: new rules for work during alarms threaten a mass shutdown of factories, - RBC-Ukraine About 20% of the capital's restaurants may temporarily stop working this winter. The reasons are new requirements for shelters, constant shelling, power outages and a sharp decrease in the number of visitors. Starting December 4, in order to work during the "yellow" alarm, institutions must have their own safe space or an agreement with the nearest shelter. For many restaurants, it is almost impossible to meet these requirements. Only 15-17% of institutions have basements. The rest are forced to seek shelter, and a restaurant for 50-100 guests often simply does not have room to accommodate them all. In Kyiv, the flow of visitors has already decreased by an average of 25-30%, and in some restaurants - up to 50%. Institutions in areas of frequent shelling and shopping centers were particularly badly hit. Classic restaurants with waiters, where the guests spend 1.5-2 hours each, risk the most. Instead, fast food, deliveries and takeaways are preferable. Some of the owners plan to freeze the business until the spring, negotiate a rent reduction and not spend on generators, fuel and salaries. Entrepreneurs are already preparing collective appeals to the authorities demanding that the rules be amended. Prices in restaurants may increase by another 5-10%, mainly due to the increase in product prices. The business is afraid to increase them significantly - the number of customers is decreasing. While Kyiv is losing visitors, their number has increased by about 20% in Lviv. A similar trend is observed in other cities in western Ukraine. Ukraine online.
