The head of the local government Haim Bivas and the head of the regional government Shay Hajaj in a call to the heads of the parties: the time has come for unity.
We, the heads of the local and regional governments in Israel, call on the heads of the political parties to come together and work to establish a broad national unity government. This is the order of the hour!
The State of Israel faces security and political challenges, and requires functional continuity and stable leadership. The public has exhausted the rounds of repeated elections and the time has come for a decision. Another round of elections will not change the picture, and may only deepen the rift in the people.
The local government operates routinely and in emergencies in a long-standing partnership together - heads of authorities from all sectors, from the right and the left, with the understanding that working together enables maximum quality service for the residents.
We do not expect you to give up your worldview or to blur the differences between you. A healthy democracy needs controversies, public debate and representation of the variety of opinions. But a dispute cannot become a permanent boycott, and ideological differences cannot be an excuse to paralyze the system. We call on you, the leaders of the parties, to rise above the differences and gather at one table, for the sake of the unity of the people and the good of the country's residents.
