"During the past three years, great suffering has befallen the Middle East. The horrific deaths of Palestinian civilians, the destruction of civil society and the devastation in Gaza are abhorrent, and such a thing must not be allowed to happen again.

In order to end the vicious cycle of bloodshed, for the benefit of the Israeli people and the Palestinian people, American policy in the region must change dramatically. We must commit to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state that will grant respect, appreciation and self-determination to the Palestinian people. We must also support a new generation of Palestinian leaders and put an end to the blatant violence of the settlers in the West Bank."
