The late Israeli ambassador to the Emirates, Yossi Shelley, was the first Israeli to meet the Indian pilot of the Flydubai flight

The pilot absolutely refused to call himself a hero. He shared that in those moments he just realized that if he doesn't open the door - that's the end. He hoped in the secret of his heart that he would be able to open and that someone would help, and he said an amazing sentence: 'He had one last fight left in him.'"

Ambassador Yossi Shelley told the pilot that today he entered the world pantheon of heroes: "You did something brave against all odds."

At the end of the conversation, the ambassador officially invited him to visit Israel as soon as he can, to receive the hug and love that the whole country wants to give him.
