From Trump's speech

In America, we just marked 25 years since the worst terrorist attack in history, on September 11, in which 3,000 people were killed, a few kilometers from here. In two weeks we will mark the third anniversary of the October 7 attack in Israel, in which Iranian-funded terrorists tortured, abused and murdered 1,200 innocent citizens, including dozens of Americans.

Iran's supreme leader celebrated the massacre and called it a "service to humanity." The same regime massacred more than 72,000 of its own citizens this year. Just imagine if such a despicable regime were ever given the ability to carry out large-scale terrorist attacks under the cover of a nuclear umbrella. This was the reality we had to face - a reality that too many preferred to ignore.

I would like to thank the UN Security Council for voting overwhelmingly in favor of a resolution condemning Iran's heinous terrorist attacks against commercial shipping. I am pleased to say that this resolution was supported by more UN member states than any other Security Council resolution in history. The United States will no longer allow threats against America to gain a foothold anywhere in the Western Hemisphere. And if necessary, we will use our unparalleled military might to protect the vital national interests of the United States.
