For the first time, Zelensky allowed to discuss a security guarantee for Russia after the end of the war.
Western powers can negotiate Moscow's security demands, but first they must end the war and satisfy Ukraine's needs. According to the "Financial Times", the president said this in a meeting with journalists in Kiev.
First, we must resolve this war issue, and only then seek answers to the questions that Russia raises, based on its views and expectations regarding security, - said Zelensky.
At the same time, he noted: within the framework of "security guarantees" Russia understands a change in the security system of Europe and the world. The president also said that he had heard signals about a possible reduction of American troops in Europe.
Zelensky emphasized that Europe must participate in the discussion on security guarantees and agreements after the war. Ukraine can discuss conceptual issues with Russia through the mediation of the United States, but decisions requiring the participation of Europeans cannot be made without them.
At the beginning of November, technical negotiations between Ukraine, the USA and the Russian Federation are expected in Abu Dhabi regarding possible de-escalation, in particular the end of strikes on energy and maritime security.
