The Greek and Israeli navies conducted a joint exercise in the northern Cretan Sea, firing guided missiles and torpedoes and sinking a disabled frigate. Greek vessels fired Spike NLOS guided missiles from a Machitis gunboat and a Mark V special operations ship. The systems, recently acquired by the Greek Navy, can engage targets beyond the visible horizon. The exercise culminated in the sinking of the disabled Greek Navy frigate Bobolina, which was hit by spike missiles and then sunk by a SUT torpedo fired from a Greek submarine.
