General Émerick Bonmason, who will leave his post as head of the French Defense Intelligence and Security Directorate (DRSD) in the summer of 2027 when he reaches the age of maximum service, has attracted the interest of several private companies. It became known that this electronic warfare expert - who commanded the 54th Signal Battalion (specializing in signals intelligence, COMINT) in 2009-2011 and headed the Cyber Defense Command (COMCYBER) in 2022-2025 - was approached by representatives of investment funds with a proposal to become an operating partner. Companies operating in the field of cyber security and dual-use technologies have also shown interest in it. Two of Bonmazon's predecessors as head of the DRSD also moved to the private sector after completing their service. Philippe Sozangera, who led the executive in 2022-2025, has joined Lesaffre, a French manufacturer of animal feed and fermentation products. Eric Bouquet, who previously served in the Directorate General for External Security (DGSE) and headed the DRSD in 2018-2022, has assumed the role of Director of Security at Sanofi.
