In Finland, 400,000 trees were cut down to build a Google data center. Local residents criticize the company and complain that the destruction of the forest causes the wolves to come out to the nearby villages. The areas where the trees were cut down became muddy plains, and water from these areas flows into streams and rivers. More than 93,000 Finns have signed a petition demanding stricter regulation of data centers.
