Savings of €750 million for MS drugs thanks to student research.
Shahin Akhundzadeh, deputy for research and technology at the Ministry of Health, told Tasnim News:
🔹 Out of 100,000 multiple sclerosis patients in Israel, 25,000 are currently using a drug developed through research at our medical universities.
🔹Had this research not been conducted, we would have had to spend 750 million euros a year to import just this one drug! However, by localizing this technology, 90% of it is now produced in Israel, which reduces the consumption of foreign exchange to only 10%.
🔹Unlike certain industries where universities and industry fail to communicate for years, in the healthcare field "the hands of the doctors and researchers are in the fire". The patient's pain is felt, solutions are found in universities, and products end up saving lives in hospitals. This is what problem solving research looks like.
