▪️ The ball of basic commodity payments is now in the government's court.
🔹 In response to Tagardon's letter, Hamani detailed the details of the unpaid claims of importers of basic goods and the status of liabilities in foreign currency.
🔹 The letter states: This matter concerns the government's commitment to provide preferential foreign exchange and does not constitute a debt of the central bank to importers; therefore, fulfilling these commitments directly requires financial resources to be allocated by the government.
🔹 Accordingly, according to a decision made by the economic committee of the government dated 25.11.2026, after the approval of the cabinet, the Ministry of Economy and Finance - in coordination with the ministries of agriculture and industry, mining and trade - is entrusted with identifying those entitled and calculating the government's debts. Then, once the funds are secured, these obligations will be met.
🔹 The central bank stands ready, after the government has finally completed these obligations and allocated the required funds, to take all the necessary steps for the regulator.
