Unauthorized electricity consumption is equal to the use of 4 million households!
Implements Tavnir's loss reduction project, in a conversation with Tasnim News:
🔹 In the first six months of 2026, 1,230,000 non-technical causes of power loss were identified and treated, resulting in the restoration of approximately 6 billion kWh of electricity. This amount is equivalent to the electricity consumption of 4 million households.
🔹 In 2025, unauthorized electricity consumption reached 8.6 billion kWh, equal to the total electricity consumption of four provinces: North Khorasan, Ilam, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari and Ardabil.
🔹 As part of the "Mahtab" project, 397,000 unauthorized connections were located, 376,000 damaged meters were replaced and about 17,000 unauthorized mining devices were seized. 🔹 The value of the unauthorized electricity consumption and the damage caused to the network is estimated at 6.7 trillion tomans, of which 4.2 trillion tomans have been returned so far.
