Western volunteers act as a shield for Palestinian olive farmers
▪️ Exclusive report by a Tasnim reporter in the West Bank
🔹Recently, in the village of Beit Anan, northwest of occupied Jerusalem, Israeli IDF forces were present in the fields of Palestinian farmers. The farmers intend to tend their land as the olive harvest season approaches, but with Israeli soldiers supporting settler attacks, Palestinians are effectively barred from accessing their land.
🔹In such circumstances, a group of volunteers stood up to stand by Beit Anan farmers, to help them gain access to their fields.
🔹 With the backing of these volunteers - who are mostly citizens of European countries and the United States - the villagers can participate in harvesting olives on land they inherited from their ancestors. Today, Palestinian farmers are denied access to approximately 25,000 dunams out of a total of 75,000 dunams of land cultivated with olive trees.
