18 Islamic countries condemn the opening of Colombia's embassy in occupied Jerusalem Ministers from 18 Arab and Islamic countries strongly condemned the opening of Colombia's embassy in occupied Jerusalem, describing it as a violation of UN Security Council resolutions. The statement of the foreign ministers of 18 Arab and Islamic countries:
Any action or decision aimed at changing the legal or historical status of occupied Jerusalem or recognizing it as the capital of Israel is null and void, without any legal effect whatsoever. Our position is consistent with the resolutions of the Security Council and the General Assembly of the United Nations, especially resolutions 476 and 478 of 1980. These resolutions reject any efforts to change the character or status of Jerusalem and call on countries to withdraw their diplomatic missions from the city, which is part of the Palestinian territories occupied in 1967.
