Arakchi: In wars, the environment is the silent victim Foreign Minister:
The environmental situation in the Persian Gulf has been plagued by ecological disasters for years. The war started by the USA in Iraq, the burning of oil wells and the subsequent fires in the area caused a lot of damage to the local environment. Since then, due to ongoing conflicts in the region, we are constantly dealing with the environmental consequences of these wars. Given US policy, this trend seems likely to continue. The truth is that in wars, the environment serves as a silent victim. As a neutral party in conflicts, nature often bears the brunt of the damage - damage that has long-term and permanent effects. In the recent war and aggression against Iran, we witnessed the extent of the damage caused to the environment, to the peoples' livelihood and to their health. For example, in Tehran, when refinery tanks were targeted and caught fire, the sky remained dark for a whole day or even two to three days, with black rain falling.
