Trump: I could have won the war in Afghanistan in 3 weeks Donald Trump claimed that America could have won the war in Afghanistan in three weeks. At a campaign rally in the state of Iowa, he criticized the performance of previous US presidents in foreign wars and said that instead of winning, Washington was looking for the end of wars without results. Trump also claimed that America could have ended the Vietnam War within a week. These statements were made as the Trump administration signed the Doha Agreement on February 29, 2020, after about 18 months of negotiations with the Taliban.
