On Saturday, Syria and France agreed to establish a joint committee to oversee development projects that will be financed with funds confiscated from the al-Assad farm, the uncle of deposed Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, amounting to approximately 54 million euros.
The agreement was reached during a meeting in Paris between the director of the international cooperation department of the Syrian Foreign Ministry, Qutaiba Kadish, and the special envoy of France to Syria, Jean-Francois Guillaume, according to the official Syrian News Agency (SANA).
The agency said that both parties agreed to exchange project proposals during the next week, and discussed the completion of the necessary procedures to accelerate the investment of funds in projects serving the Syrians, without specifying the nature of these projects or the date of their implementation.
