British adventurer Carl Bushby returned to his mother's home in Hull, England, on Monday after completing a 28-year journey of 50,000 kilometers from Chile.
The 57-year-old former paratrooper set off from the Chilean city of Punta Arenas in November 1998, with the goal of reaching his mother's door without using traditional means of transportation.
Bushevi imposed two strict rules for his journey: not to use any means of transportation to move forward, and to return home on foot, and he set off with only $500. He was also jailed in 2001 for 18 days after crossing a restricted border area in Panama.
After completing the final leg of his journey in the North East of England, Bushavi was reunited with his mother, Angela, returned to a family he had been estranged from for nearly three decades, and met his 36-year-old son, Adam, and his 12-year-old granddaughter for the first time.
