Emirates Airlines Group announced on Thursday that its pre-tax profits fell by 66% during the first half of the 2026-2027 financial year, compared to the same period last year, which was affected by the consequences of the war in the Middle East and the increase in aviation fuel costs.
The group explained in a statement that its profits before tax amounted to 4.1 billion dirhams in the United Arab Emirates (about 1.1 billion dollars) during the six months that ended last September, while it recorded a net profit of 3.6 billion dirhams (about 980 million dollars), and its revenues fell by 12% to 66.2 billion dirhams.
The chairman of the board and the group's CEO, Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, said that the last six months had been difficult, pointing to the continued demand from customers despite the challenges, while air freight activity helped support revenues and cash flow, despite the doubling of global jet fuel prices compared to the same period last year.
