Syrian authorities have announced the foiling of a plan they say targets the Homs refinery in the center of the country, without revealing who is responsible or how to foil it.
Sanaa quoted a source in the General Intelligence as saying that the designated refinery was in Nias, before correcting the information about 30 minutes later.
The announcement comes after incidents that have affected oil and gas facilities and transport lines in Syria over the past few weeks, including the sabotage of an oil derivative transport line between Banyas and Homs and the bombing of a gas pipeline in the rural area of Haska. The authorities did not announce a connection between these events and the latest plan.
