Senior officials from Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan plan to visit Tehran to hold discussions with Iranian officials regarding regional security and efforts to reduce tensions in the region, as part of moves by the "Makkah Alliance" countries to support dialogue and diplomatic solutions, Turkish security sources reported Monday.
The Deputy Secretary General of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, Ali Bagri, said that Saudi Defense Minister Khaled bin Salman, Pakistan Army Chief of Staff Asim Munir, and a Turkish official would meet with the Council's Secretary General, Mohsen Razai, while Turkish security sources reported that the head of the Qbrain service, Ibrahim, would meet with the Council's Secretary General.
Bagri did not specify the date of the visit, while Iranian media reported that it would take place on Monday. Saudi Assistant Foreign Minister for Public Diplomacy Raad Karimli confirmed that the officials will also meet with Iranian President Masoud Pazhkian, and explained that the visit comes as part of efforts to reduce the escalation in the ongoing crisis between the US and Iran, support the mediation efforts led by Qatar and Pakistan, and improve regional security and stability in cooperation with the countries of the region.
