French Interior Minister Laurent Nunez announced the deployment of 70,000 police and gendarmerie, ahead of the possible exit of "yellow vest" protesters to the streets on Saturday.
Nunez said in a statement on Friday that security forces would be deployed on Saturday to ensure public order, along with aerial means, including helicopters and drones, indicating that local authorities would monitor the protests, following last week's violent events.
In this context, Gard District (South) announced a ban on demonstrations planned to take place on Saturday in the cities of Nim and Alice, in addition to imposing a curfew on people under the age of 18, from ten o'clock on Saturday night (20:00 GMT) until five o'clock in the morning on Sunday (03:00 GMT).
The French authorities tightened security measures, including the imposition of a partial curfew, following the looting and violence witnessed by the demonstrations on October 17.
